I work in a Chevy shop, I should start posting more of what I see at work. One day last week looked like “Vettefest”. We had about 6 that day of customer cars in service plus a new delivery. Looks funny from my desk area when our service drop-off area has 3-4 Corvettes besides some beat up old 80's-90's P.O.S. and construction pickups.

On the track: Are you a race car driver? Are you able to fully exploit the limits of grip and power of a Z06? Are you trying to wring out every single tenth? No, you’re not. An automatic will not make you faster. Learning how to drive will make you faster.

On the street: If you buy an automatic high performance car because it’s faster on the street, then you intend to drive like an idiot well beyond the limit is what is safe to you and those around you, and should be thrown in jail. And in most situations a sports car with a stick will be just as fast as sports car with an automatic, because you’re well under the car’s limits of grip, acceleration and braking.

No one buys automatics because they’re faster. That is just an excuse. They buy em because they’re lazy.

Paddle shifters are poseur transmissions for poseur drivers. You’re not a Formula One driver, and you’re not driving a race car on Monza.
